Convent
Built in 1930 and officially opened in 1931, the Convent is a heritage building that houses the Administration offices downstairs and the Year 12 Study Area upstairs.

Library
The Library is open daily from 8:00am - 6:00pm.
Borrowing terms: non-fiction 1 week, fiction 3 weeks
Photocopying: Your ID card is also used for photocopying. Each card initially has $5 credit. Extra credit can be purchased through the library desk.
Canteen
You are able to purchase items from the Canteen before school, at recess and at lunch. Year 7 have their own area where they can be served.

Careers Centre
The Careers Centre is situated on the Ground Floor in the middle of the school, providing convenient access for all students. This facility provides information on most College, University and TAFE courses in New South Wales as well as interstate. Videos on various training establishments and careers can be viewed from the comfort of lounge chairs or borrowed overnight. The Career Advisor�s Office is attached and appointments can be made for interviews or students can simply pop in informally for advice on scores required for course entry or for help with job applications.
Three Art Rooms
Light and airy standard art rooms with large workbenches for practical activities such as printmaking, painting, ceramics and sculpture. The rooms are also wireless so that any technology extensions to tasks such as animation can be performed in the classroom with laptops. Each art room has a storeroom attached with all materials close on hand.
Senior Art Studio
This is an exclusive space for Year 11 and 12 Elective students in Visual Arts accessible to them during class and free periods. It is a large space with high ceilings and plenty of light. The studio has two G5 Mac computers and two PC computers for handy research or digital photography and video editing software. This space is accessible to other year groups one afternoon a week for Art Studio time; an open access time for any keen art student across the school.
Two Photographic Darkrooms
Elective Photography & Digital Media students have access to two black and white darkrooms with 15 enlargers in each. Traditional black and white film development and photographic printing as well as alternative techniques in wet photography are explored in safe conditions in the darkrooms. Students also produce digital photographic works and are timetabled in computer rooms to do so with the use of Photoshop software.
One Jewellery & Ceramic Studio
The specialist jewellery and ceramic workshop allows students of elective Visual Design to explore precious and non precious materials in an exclusive purpose adapted space. Wax cast, rivetted and soldered forms can be produced in brass, copper and silver in a safe environment. This space also provides for an area where clay forms can be handbuilt and kept for drying.
Two Textile Technology Rooms
The Textile Technology rooms are fully equipped with 24 computerised sewing machines, 4 overlockers, 2 ironing boards and various equipment associated with teaching the courses. We have 3 storerooms and they are allocated according to the classes that are using the facility. Presently we teach Year 8 Technology (textiles unit) Year 9 and 10 Textiles Technology and Year 11 and 12 Textiles and Design. The rooms are in use by these classes approximately 80% of the time and other subjects use these classrooms as general purpose as well.
Two Food Technology Facilities
Both rooms are fully equipped for teaching classes of Food Technology. We have a preparation room with an assistant who does ordering, organising and general cleaning and maintenance. Currently the rooms are being used by Year 7 Technology Unit, Year 9, 10, 11 & 12 Food Technology and Year 11 and 12 Hospitality Operations.
One Drama Studio
The Drama Studio provides students with a chance to create and perform in a professional environment. The space is designed to act as educational space allowing students the room to explore the diversity of theatre. The room is fitted with stage lighting / sound / whiteboards and blackout curtains. It provides adequate facilities for an audience of 30 � 40 people. The studio has its own stage like appearance. With wooden sprung floors and access directly to the theatre, the Drama Studio is an inspiring place for drama enthusiasts.
One Dance Studio
Dance students at Stella Maris College discover the art of movement in purpose built studios designed for class and performance. The studios are equipped with mounted bars, floor to ceiling mirrors, industry sprung floors and Denon sound equipment. In addition to the learning tools the studio can be transformed into an intimate performance space. Curtains frame the parameter of the room and provide a professional setting for smaller presentations. The Dance Studio is also fitted with numerous IT teaching tools, LCD projector and an observation screen creates a dynamic learning environment.
One video production studio
This studio space is located at the SMC Factory. It is an area that can be converted easily to meet the needs of a variety of different studio settings. This facility is used as a part of all video classes for single and multi-camera interviews, chroma key work, lighting and sound activities. There are no permanent fixtures and the studio is set up using portable lighting, sound, digital camera and vision mixing equipment.
One video editing suite
The editing suite is located at the SMC Factory. It is primarily used for video classes to edit work but can also be used for smaller design classes. This facility is used by all video classes for all pre and post production work. The students edit on 12 G5 iMacs running non-linear program packages such as Final Cut Studio Pro and iLife. In addition to these, the students integrate software packages such as the Adobe Creative Suite and Macromedia MX into their productions.
Two Music Rooms / 8 Music Practice Rooms
Stella Maris College has eight private practice rooms providing for both student practice and private music lessons. Over 200 students each week receive music lessons from our private tutors. Each of the practice rooms is equipped with a MIDI capable digital piano and Computer to assist students with composition and music assignments. Our Conservatorium trained teachers provide individual or group lessons, both of which are available at the College during the school days.

The College uses Information Technology to enhance the quality of teaching, learning and to provide an electronic environment that will facilitate the integration of the school�s many systems. - A comprehensive Learning Management System which holds hundreds of multimedia-rich learning courses available anywhere at any time, teachers are constantly being trained to ensure that they have the relevant skills for today�s learning.
- A modern e-learning centre consisting of 60 PCs and two mounted projectors.
- 3 mobile classrooms, these consist of 30 laptops that can be used in any classroom.
- There is 100% wireless coverage in the school for these mobile classrooms.
- A new e-learning centre is being built, this will cater for 90 students in either separate classes or as a large group.
- 20 classrooms with a teacher PC and a mounted projector.
- A high speed gigabit switched network that covers every area of the College.
- 4 Smartboards, these are digital whiteboards that can use digital contents to engage learners.
- A graphic design site, known as the Factory, which has over 60 modern Macs and a video production facility.
- There are over 600 PCs and laptops at Stella Maris, these computers run over 60 applications covering nearly every area of the curriculum.
- A small team of qualified and enthusiastic IT professionals that are always trying to keep the systems running with maximum uptime and constantly looking for new technologies to enrich the learning experience.
